Managing working from home for overnight results!

Coronavirus is all over the news and the working from home thing is on a lot of people's minds. In a previous blog I talked about how some organisations were still against remote working because, well... they don't trust the person doing it. But if I was in sales and had a budget of £1m and achieved £1m whilst working from home at times then my boss would probably be ok with it. Why? Because I'm 'delivering results'.

So if we can more tangibly identify the results expected from roles then its going to be a lot easier to measure performance and evidence to the cynics out there who think I'm sitting in my pyjamas at 10am with one eye on daytime TV! Most job descriptions do a bad job of actually identifying results for those in 'no £-note' jobs. They are full of responsibilities and activities with vague verbs like roll-out, deliver, deploy, execute, ensure, manage etc. One person could describe themselves as managing things well; their boss may disagree. Who is right - how do you know?
